Raining today. It is supposed to rain most of the day, with wind gusts up to 35 mph. We NEED the rain, not the wind, tho.
Long white radishes are up. Buttercrunch, romaine, loose leaf, Red Sails- lettuce is up. Spinach is up. Cucumbers are peeking out. 'Bright Lights' Swiss chard is up and looking very bright, with it's stems of red, orange, pink, yellow, and pale green.
Harvesting cabbage, cauliflowers, and broccoli when it quits raining.
Bobby planted his pepper plants, and something promptly ate one off at the soil level. It is gone, he is outraged! Not funny, but I get so tickled at him. He thinks that just because it is HIS, it is safe from the normal chances we all take when we assign something to the ground. LOL
I have lilies up in the flower beds, and my chaste trees are budding. Lots of things that I thought were dead for sure are putting on leaves. Some things that are in pots survived- I think that surprises me more than anything.
Copper Canyon Daisy is BEAUTIFUL! Not blooming yet, but all leafed out. Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow has buds. It is going to be a spectacular Spring!

Oh, dear it is not fun when something gobbles your plants off. I planted two Chaste trees last summer that I grew from seeds. Soon now maybe I will find out if they survived our winter. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sounds like your garden is doing well. I don't like this wind either. I just returned from our local Master Gardener plant sale. I went late and much was already sold out. I bought a Brandywine tomato and a Nierembergia for a total of $4.I have radishes breaking through. Hopefully, the beets, lettuce and spinach will be right behind.

something i find hard to find around here - and seems expencive to buy, is these new cone flowers listed in the flower books..If we buy one will they seed true to colors/ shape etc... or will they have to be divisions. i know purple and white coneflowers are very easy to grow. I keep seeing these new ones but they seem too expencive to buy more than one.
The new coneflowers are hybrids, so I never expect them to seed true. If you can get divisions, they would be great. I personally love the old fashioned flowers that everybody recognizes and loves.
Those chaste trees are fantastic! I didn't realize they were that hardy! Did you plant the old timey chaste tree, or the newer Montrose Purple?
I missed Victoria MG plant sale this year. I have not yet got into the mood to buy plants, except for a few vegetable plants. Jackson County MG plant sale is April 16th, and they always have a fantastic plant sale!
We are in the swing of spring here, I think.
