Wandering this morning in my garden.....

My favorite time of the year. This morning I found this confederate rose blooming. It is so happy! This one is a sport, came from a seed thrown by my pink blooming CR. That one blooms huge, round, delicious pink blooms, which turn crimson.

This one blooms white, as many seedlings do, then changes to a dark pink in about a day.

I love it. They are not long lived, but they are so easily propagated from cuttings, that it doesn't matter a lot. They will grow into a smallish ornamental tree. This one is like a sapling.

Ya know Janie, I remember selling CR on occasion back when I was a nurseyman but I haven't seen one around here in years. Guess I'll have to keep my eyes open when I'm out and about. Thanks for the pics and the reminder, very cool.

What a delightful surprise. It is a very sweet looking flower. I am very surprised that it grew from seed. I honestly didn't think roses did that. But hey, I've been gardening a whole five minutes. I'm bound to have missed a few things.

Surprise plants can be the most treasured.
I've begun responding to memes. I'm doing them as a group and over several posts. Hope this is ok.

It begins here

Oh my gosh. I can hardly wait for mine to bloom. It has buds that keep getting larger every day. Is this an annual then, and I'll have to plant it every year?

I think I need to get one of those CR! The rose is so pretty and I like the shape of the green foliage, too.
On another note...your MG website is wonderful and I wouldn't change a thing. Wow! Your pond is lovely!!!!! Looks like a nice, relaxing place to "take it easy". I have a neighbor that is interested in putting one in her backyard. I will send her to your site to check out your photos.
Also, could you please share your secrets to propogation because I think I need them :).
In addition, I can't think of a nicer gift of the zinnias for her great grand daughter wedding!
The site looks great and is easy and clear to navigate through to find information. -Amy

Perhaps I need to edit the original post about my confederate rose.

It isn't actually a rose, but a member of the cotton family. It has large leaves, quite unlike a rose. It is a perennial, so you won't have to plant it every year, but it isn't very long lived. My mama CR is about 6 years old, and I may take cuttings and then chop it down this year. It is getting kind of out of shape from me cutting limbs off to keep it from shading plants under it. They grow very quickly, and started from cuttings will bloom almost as soon as they are planted in the ground.

Remember that a rooted cutting from a mature plant is already a mature plant once rooted. LOL

Esther, I as looking forward to reading your memes. I always look forward to seeing what you have posted.

I will change the settings just as soon as I find out how to do it. Does anyone know how to do this? I am not a real whiz on this computer, sometimes. Thanks.
